Because all classes in the Communication Department require a high degree of class participation, interpersonal interaction, and peer review, students are expected to attend all classes for the entire period. Students who cannot or do not attend classes regularly, for whatever reason, cannot demonstrate they have achieved the expected learning outcomes defined by the Department. Students who miss more than twenty-five percent of classes without adequate medical proof will be failed for the course. Students can be administratively withdrawn for the course for excessive absenses.
Students will be expected to provide feedback to classmates during the probing and employment interviews. Generally this will involve completed a standard feedback sheet. Feedback should be constructive in nature and encourage classmates by identifying both strengths and weaknesses observed through the interview situation.
Exams use a combination of multiple-choice and essay questions.
Student learners are expected to provide a videotape in order to allow the capture and video review of their interview skills for all three interviews. Self-assessments assignments are provided for each interview and generally involve identifying the strengths and weaknesses observed along with appropriate evidence of those elements. More information is available with each interview.
Course evaluations are conducted each term toward the end of the quarter. This is the student's opportunity to offer suggestions for improving the instruction and/or instructional materials offered in the course. Feedback is welcome at anytime either to the instructor directly or through the departmental chairperson located in the Communication Arts office room 2222.
